My first post.... I am sitting in our Florida home and have just created this site. It's a bit of an experiment: I have never blogged on a daily basis before, though when working did so at weekly intervals. My aim is to provide a record of what it is like being Captain of Burhill Golf Club - so that others who may take on the job in years to come can do so with open eyes.

My task today is to start the process of filling up my diary with partners in the Club's Social and Mixed events. Unlike the Men, the Ladies are terribly organized and I fear that I shall already be too late for some dates!

For the past couple of weeks, Diana and I have been chatting about the preparations for the AGM on the 15th February, when I assume that I will be elected Captain. If I am not, the Blog will have a very short-lived existence...
