As a child, one of the books I can remember leafing through in the house's smallest room was called Funny Ha Ha (which then spawned similar titles Funny Amazing and Funny Peculiar). Basically, these were unintentionally amusing news headlines of the sort that that you see in Private Eye or HIGNFY nowadays.
And Funny Ha Ha adequately describes the weather today: what a gorgeous almost-Spring day it was! I had a late night last evening, so opted for the more gentle time of 10 am to meet long-term friend, and fellow member, Colin for a gentle 18 holes.
Well, we couldn't have been more fortunate: we walked straight onto the 1st tee of the Old Course and only caught up with the 4-ball ahead of us on the 18th. And the game was played in gentle sunshine: yes, the course itself was damp underfoot and the green still showing the signs of their recent sand treatment, but what a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning. I was left with a lengthy putt to win the game on the last, which was never going to happen, but the half was the perfect result.
A couple of drinks in the Honours Bar (Happy Birthday again, Simon Bedford!) and a bite of lunch were most welcome, before beetling home to watch what should be the deciding match of the 2015 Six Nations... a nerve-racking afternoon beckons.... :~)
